Lemon/Lime in Moorland

Dear All,

Have been trying to find a agronomist/horticulturist to interpret soil testing results recently done by Department of Primary Industries.

Small farm, getting ready...Not even sure if lemon/lime could be grown in our area. Any kind of advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

My farming story from the beginning

Hello everyone. I have put myself in a position where i would like advise. My father left me a block of land of a 1000 acres. Heavily gum forested. Before his passing he cleared approx 100 acres ( government fined us $34 000 for unlawful clearing) and built two dams. Well finished building one dam approx 40 acres, i think its 70 to 80 % full ( me googling how to use a laser level and measure the spilway) ( i google everything as you can imagine no one to ask how and why otherwise) and never finished the wall of the second so its never been more full than about 10 acres.

URGENT! dying lamb in our loungeroom!

Hello! Desperately seeking some advice on one of our dorper lambs, who is rapidly declining...

Lamb is 6weeks old, single birth with no complications, mother doing well. No troubles at all until about 3 days ago when the lamb began scouring. Has been on mixed native pasture, with afternoon feeds of Lucerne. Yesterday was marking day, so We bought him in and after marking, gave him 1 ml of abermectin before returning him to the lamb yard.

Boom Spray Advice

I have a boomless spray (Silvan MANTR-10) which delivers a 3m wide spray using a TK-VP7.5 nozzle at 3.7 l/min. The spray is a bit course for what i need and would like to make a boom spray myself with finer nozzles. Can anyone please advide which nozzles to use. The boom would be 2m wide and hoping to have a 3m spray width. I have checked some nozzle catalogues and they are a bit bewildering. I am using a Silvan 100L redline tank.

Thank you

Rogue Cow

Hi.

I'm new to the forum.  My family and I run a small Scottish Highland Cattle, Poultry and Boer Goat operation out at Trunkey Creek NSW.

We recently had an enquiry by an owner of a heifer asking if her Scottish Highland cow can come visit our bull for a set service fee for 8 weeks.

Our family have never been asked this question but agreed because we like the thought of the Highland Breed continuing to grow.

Spraying Smartweed in Kikuyu/Paspalum Pastures

Hi All,

Our place is floodplain country, with heaps of rushes, smartweed and fireweed.

I'm getting amazing results on the bullrushes using 540 glyphosate applied with a "Rotowiper", nearly 90% first application with the grass untouched.

Now I'm looking for a selective spray for the smartweed, which heavily infests the place in the wetter parts.

I'm using a Silvan 600L tractor spray unit with a boomless spray nozzle setup.

Multi-species Pasture Cropping

We are brand new farmers in the hills of south west WA and want to adopt regenerative farming practices. We have heard about multi-species pasture cropping and are getting started with this on our farm. We will use a no-till disc seeder to spread the seed but are unsure of what mix to use? We have dorper/damara sheep as well as a small number of friesian steers that will all be rotationally grazed. We want to sow native perenial grasses as well as a mix of things like black medic, hairy vetch, sunflowers, corn, chickory and plantain so they grow throughout spring and summer.
