lantana and land clearing

Hello all , I am new to this forum so be gentle .HA.... I need some woody weeds cleared and a bit of earthworks ( lantana , wattle , and general regrowth ) done . I have 50 acres near fernvale QLD . I had a look on gumtree and saw this bloke called buckshot dozer hire . The machine looks like a good size not to disturb the ground too much and seems like he knows what he is doing . Has anyone had experience with this buckshot dozer hire in SEQ ?

Slashing native grasses for horses?

Hello, I have 50 acres - a mix of forest and pasture and run 7 horses in light work. We have a lot of native greasses like microlenia (along with cocksfoot some clover and rye grass although it is all very dry at the moment.)

pto seeder

hi all,
Looking at purchasing a pto driven seed spreader and have a few questions.

I'm looking to spread some seed which specifies a 5kg per hectare (cocksfoot) sow rate as the seed is very fine. Will a pto driven spreader do they job? Will it be able to spread the slow enough and far enough wide? Or would I need to mix fertiliser with the seed and spread it that way?

THanks

Pasture Improvement Costs

Hello All, We are interested in buying some acreage (10-15 acres) in the southern tablelands area, just outside the ACT. I grew up with performance horses and aim to have a few based on our intended new home. I'm sure we'll have lots of questions for the forum as we learn more about the process, but the first I'd like to throw out relates to the cost of pasture improvement.

Lonely pig

Hi, One of our two pigs recently died. Our remaining pig is pretty lonely and definitely not herself. She's only 11 months old and has always had the company of at least one other pig. We don't want to get rid of her, but it's not nice seeing her seem so lonely. My question is whether pigs can be easily introduced to other pigs, were we to get another one - either a younger one, or one similar in age. We're worried they simply won't get along/fight. Any thoughts? Thanks

Paddock Preparation

My small property has suffered with the drought and the winter like many other rural properties. Can anyone please guide me in how to bring my paddocks back from the brink. We have just received approx. 80mm of rain over the past week so the ground is well watered. I have 16 head of Hereford steers (9mths) on the block. I have been supplementing them feed wise but I need to rejuvenate my paddocks. Any help would be appreciated.
