Telephone controlled power point

Hi,

Has anyone used these power outlets that turn on and off via phone call. They sound perfect for my pump.

Hello to the Good Life

Just want to say a quick hello to all out there.

Love this site and all the like minded people supporting each other.

We are new to farming, having eventually bought our little piece of heaven (40 acres) and cant wait to get it all up and running. Its a bush block, so we are beginning with a blank slate. The hope is to have a small viable enterprise running redline cattle. Plus of course the mandatory chickens and dogs, plus maybe even a few pigs for the pot.

A key factor in minimising risk to stock during a bush fire is to identify safer areas on the farm where livestock can be moved.

The area you choose will depend on the type of livestock you are farming and their expected behaviour during a fire.

Foam-filled ATV tyres for free trial

Hi all,

I have a pair of 25x10-12 Deestone Ditch Witch tyres, mounted on steel rims and filled with lightweight foam.

I require a long-term test to be carried out, and am looking for a farmer located within 100km of Perth who would be willing to try them out. They would be available for use free of charge. The ATV would be required to be in daily use for at least a few hours each working day in the interests of obtaining the necessary data as quickly as possible.

Thanks

Beef cattle snowy mountains

Hi all,

Please excuse my ignorance but I was wondering on the farming of beef in the snowy mountain region:

- do they require bought feed or can they rely on the land?

- is this better breve dine or fattening country?

- what is the rainfall like and is it reliable?

100 questions I know but thanks in advance ;)

Farming

Hello

I have recently joined.

I am keen to understand how to get into organic farming. I have no experience in farming. I have been in the software business for 10+ yrs and my wife is the health care sector
We are currently moving out from Melbourne to Devonport.

Appreciate if any help can be given on how and where to start with farming? Investments and effort required?

Kubota B6000 needs head repair

We have spent every cent we own to buy our 40ac property. I was sold an old Kuota B6000 to do some much needed slashing, however I was not told it had no water pump and needed constant water added and yes I have cracked the head. I only paid $1000 for the tractor and it is going to cost me $1500 to get a new head from US. A mate reckons someone would be able to mend it????? Please let me know any ideas on fixing the head or a second hand one as I can't find anything and so can't afford a new one yet, cheers Ian.
