Any experiences with "tow behind" mower?

Hello, I hope Easter was as beautiful for other folks as it was on our little farm at Elands, NSW. I'm prevailing on the knowledge of fellow small holders for information about solutions for mowing and slashing. I want to mow about an acre on the house yard and keep it nice and tidy. The grass grows at an astonishing rate in Elands.

Dehorning

Would like to dehorn. I have 2 dexters to dehorn. Both are mature animals, one bull and one cow. I was researching the process and found the band dehorning process seemed quite good. I refer to the "Callicrate Bander Kit" used for both castration and dehorning.

WherZat Farm

We moved here 13 years ago. Used the property for horses and general farming. Would like to be more productive on our relatively small 8 acres. We have plenty of water and the soil is quite good. Over the years we have provided beef for the freezer, vegies for the table and planting a lot of fruit trees and native plants. The kids have enjoyed their horses and still do. I have 3 dexters, one bull and 2 cows. I am a member of the DACI and would like to bread the dexters. They are pure bread.

Square Meaters cattle

Hi Rob,

I had a look at some photos of Square Meaters on the web and they look a lot like my Murray Grey's but they are shorter and the body weight given is lighter. Are they related to Murray Greys or Angus? Just curious to know.

cheers,

Barb

Lowline vs. Square Meaters

Hi All

My partner and I are seriously looking into starting a small beef (Miniature) producing farm, in the southern highlands NSW (approx. 200 acres). We have narrowed the breed down to two, Lowline (Angus) or Sqaure Meaters.

Having researched both breeds online extensively, we would appreciate impartial advice on which breed may work, and be most profitable for us.

Many thanks

Brett and Rachel

now living back out of town on 37acres and looking for some ideas on what to do with it, approx 20 acres of it can be farmed and im looking for some profitable ideas to be self sufficient as well as make a bit of profit from it.

Best size for hobby farm?

I'm trying to get a general feel for what sort of hobby farm my partner and I would need to plan and save for to realize a tree change dream. The ideal would be to be partially or even (dreaming big!) mostly self-sufficient on a small farm when we have a young family in the future. My partner works in an industry that suits running your own business from home online if we go rural, while we already plan for me to stay home with the kids regardless of whether we're rural or city based and I'd rather be being productive with my time producing our own food if I have the choice.

A new product launched by NOV Mono offers an effective solution for pumping water on small-scale farms and rural lifestyle properties.
