Dairy cow, where?

For a good while ive been looking for a jersey house cow. Seems they are rare as hens teeth in Victoria.
I can find plenty in stock sales, but they are heres n I only want 1. I've tried gum tree- and no PICT numbers. As ill be selling the grown calf, I'll need a pict number.
Question: can I purchase a cow, who doesn't come with PICT number and simply tag it with mine?

I have a stock agent looking for me, but says it tends to be herd dispersal, not single cows.
Vet knows no jerseys.
I've put an wanted advert up in local livestock website.
Where else might I Look?
Do you have a jersey for sale?

Try Facebook and join your local stock classifieds or cattle for sale groups. They are very helpfull and will point you in right direction.

Hi,

Have you tried this website

https://www.onlinelivestock.com.au/

Alternatively you could buy a younger heifer, get them used to hand feeding/people and then join them once old enough.

Regards,

Charlie

That's the back up plan Charlie. It has merits I like. Cept it'd be a sole cow? Not normal.
