Naming our Farm????

Hi everyone, hope you all are well. Just wondering how to register our farm/property name? I understand the brand name through DAF / PIC to tag animals, however i can't seem to find anything about registering our actual farm.

Thanks Carla and William

Small land, small profit?

Hi folks. I moved to a property recently where, apart from our yard and a few acres of bushland, we also have about 1200 square metres of cleared land, and we just don't know what to do with it. It's quite slopey, but it seems to be naturally terraced. It faces north-east, so gets plenty of sun. And it's in the Gold Coast hinterland, so not much in the way of winters, with soil that is pretty dry and rocky with plenty of clay. We've gone through a few different ideas (olive trees, sheep/goats, etc) with our latest being to just plant fruit and nut trees to make it into a family orchard.

How do eradicate salt from my dam?

I've recently had my dam water tested after killing my veggie crop (new home). It came back 3400 ec, so little wonder everything died. I've been advised the salt level will dilute in winter as the dam fills with rain water, however it won't be good enough for plants still. The salt level is high due to a bore which has been run into it over several years. Has anyone been in this situation and have they found it effective to completely drain the dam? Or would I also need to have a certain amount of the dam dirt scraped out to eradicate the salt issue?

Hi all, I stumbled onto your site while doing some online research for our new retirement property where we intend to permanently relocate in two years once we get our finances sorted. Firstly, what a great site and resource! I am looking forward to learning from the experiences of others here and sharing our journey. We have purchased an old dairy farm in northern Tasmania and hope to run it as a small venture with cattle, specialty chickens and bees. One of our interests has always been working horses which we have done for the last 30 years on our current property in Victoria.

Best farm dog breed

Happy Easter everyone!

I know there is probably not one definitive answer.....we are in the process of purchasing a 5 acre property on the mid North Coast. We would like a dog. We couldn't have one in Sydney as the yard is too small and we were spending too much time away from the house.

Plants list toxic for sheep

Can anyone refer me to a site that can tell me what plants are toxic to sheep? I am looking to plant a wind break and Photinia and Leightons green seem to have mixed responses.
