Tractor implements... Advice please.

Hi all,

I have 15 acres of flat land in the Latrobe Valley. When we purchased the farm we got a 25hp Kubota (2201) 4wd tractor, a single tine ripper and a slasher.

The block had been let go by the previous owners and the owners before that and we've replaced a fair bit of the fencing. Now we're at the point where we need to start working the soil, improving it and sowing pasture crops.

Hello and thanks for having me....

Hi everyone great to see a page like this! I have just purchased a new 44 acre property and will be seeking ideas and advise occasionally and hopefully be able share my experiences along the way. Have no clear idea with what exactly I'll be doing with the land yet but any suggestions will be appreciated. . Regards Grizzo.

Agistment... How?

Hi there - A couple of months ago I purchased a beautiful home and pool on farm land (89 acres) at Mosquito Hill on South Australia's Fleurrieu Peninsular. I have been looking at buying a fam for some time and decided to go ahead when I found this beautiful spot. I am currently working mining FIFO to Indonesia and intend to continue for another 3-4 years. On returning to Australia, I will then look at being very involved in the farm life - cattle, fowl, other livestock, fresh produce etc...

Managing 10 acres

We are looking at a 10 acre property. We love the house but the property has fully manicured lawns and gardens needing lots of work. We are retired and don't want to spend our days just keeping a good lawn. We want to minimise man hours with maybe a few sheep and perhaps plant lots of bushes to cut down the amount of acres needing work. There is a small established vege garden some fruit trees and a chook pen.

Agisting Cattle - how do I go forward from here.

For a couple of years we have agisted cattle - initially we did this instead of purchasing our own as we were regularly travelling overseas for months at a time.  However now we are here most of the year.  We have hilly country but are inexperienced with mustering cattle.

Having cattle agisted on the property has been useful in growing our experience by watching the owner interact with the cattle for drenching, mustering etc.  The owner musters by horses and his dogs.

Awarded Australia’s best green table olives, Western Australian family-owned and operated Eagle Vale Olives is a niche farming success story.

Quality the key
The whole process of harvest, storage and transport is critical in the production of both table olives and oil.

Storage in cool temperatures with no exposure to the air is vital.

Olive oil, like fruit juice, goes rancid very quickly if not kept in pristine condition.

Partnership Farming/land ownership - some questions before entering in

G'Day all, I hope everyone is well.

A very close mate and I have both been looking for properties (approx 200-400 acres) in the Burnett / Darling Downs / East Maranoa regions of QLD.

Both of our goals are to run a small cattle farm to supplement costs, and have a weekend getaway as a bonus.
