How to weigh lambs

Dear Farmstyle folk

I am wondering how to weigh my small mob of sheep, particularly the lambs. Can anyone recommend good cheap weighing equipment?

I looked at scales available in fishing tackle shops but they only weigh up to 30 kg or so.

cheers

Sheep fencing repairs

Hello I am finally about to settle on my purchased property and went and completed a final inspection today. The previous owner has kindly left me some lambs who managed to evade the final round up before settlement. However on a walk today I have noted some areas of the fence mesh have been pushed up where wildlife seem to pass through. We had no intention of keeping livestock but am happy I have been left a few sheep and now I want to add to the flock and get my PIC so he can transfer them to me.

Insurance

We have approx 25 hectares of land on the East Coast of Tasmania on which we have recently erected shed. We are not farming it yet but do intend to re vegetate it as it is very degraded. What kind of insurance is appropriate and who might provide the best deals?

7 acres of red volcanic soil - what to do with it?

We've purchased 35 acres 3 months ago near ballarat. We have no farming experience but ooze tonnes of enthusiasm.  So i'm asking for a little help to get us started.

Our plan is to have cows, goats, horses (have two minis already) and sowing "Red Hill" with something.

Sick piglet

Hello. I'm new here. I was really delighted to find this forum. I've been doing a bit of hobby farming on our place for the last few years and I'm keen to take it up a notch. I hope to learn heaps on here.

Friendly weeds

Hi,
I have about 10 acres in Neerim south, near Warragul in Victoria. The soil is uneven in its nutrient content, and I havent had any animals nor was it sprayed with any chemicals for years.

Hi All, very new to farming

Hi,

Just saying Hi to all, my wife and I have, after quite some time decided to follow our dream of living the sustainable lifestyle or give it a good crack at least and bought a property on the Fraser Coast, 40 odd acres, only small by most standards but something we feel we can manage to get a handle on.  Looking at a few options to make the place earn its keep but keen to hear what others are up to.

G'day, from Melbourne's South Side

I'm a 24yo, from the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

I've just completed my carpentry apprenticeship and have no financial debts and a clean finacial record.

Ofcourse the first step into the farming would be buying some land. I have no idea where to start. I have a small savings. Is it possible for someone of my age to afford a small farm within 3 hours from the city? Any advice would be much appreciated!
