Looking to make a "tree change"

Hi, my husband and I are looking at packing our 4 boys up and buying some land. We've always wanted acreage but cannot afford it around Brisbane where we currently are. We are seriously considering moving to Northern NSW (around Murwullimbah) in order to achieve the lifestyle we want.

Hi all

Hi,

I have been living the dream for the last 10 or so years on our 25 acres in Southern NSW, we have about 10 dorpers, a couple of alpaccas, two dogs and a couple of kids (the human kind).

We love the lifestyle of growing and eating our produce and would not swap it for anything.

We look forward to browsing this site for new ideas and also to see what other people are doing on their patches.

Our interests are sheep, alpaccas, dogs, fruit trees, the vegie garden, photography and a casual lifestyle.

Cheers,

Organic fertiliser to improve the soil

Is there a way to improve the soil for grazing without using products containing mercury etc. is there an organic fertiliser that we can add that will start healing the soil, and start a positive regeneration process for the long term benefit of both the animals (mostly cattle) and the land?

Planting and strip feeding cattle

I’m not really sure where to start but here goes.

I am located in East Greenmount approx. 20km south of Toowoomba. I live on 55acres with 15 mixed breed breeders and a couple of horses. My paddocks are bare and I need an alternate to buying grain and hay in. Driving into town there are a number of farmers who rotate and strip feed their cattle on varying sized paddocks. (Some smaller than a house block). Their cattle are healthy and well fed looking.

Small cattle breeds

Hi all, I've be been doing a lot of googling and reading on the small breed cattle, now I would like to meet the breeders and their animals. My question to those in the know is, will there be any opportunities to to see these guys in any of the shows around the Northern Rivers over the next few months or is there an event over the border (Qld) might get to. Cheers Jk

Have you ever thought about owning a house cow but don’t know where to start? Do you dream of unlimited raw milk, manure and beef to complement your small farm activities? Or maybe you’ve never given it a thought. Here’s why I think you need a house cow on your farm.

Building a poultry supply network

Hello there,

We are looking to start a small poultry business with free range eggs, my question is:

How to build the network to suppliers? How to get well known in the market?

Thanks you so much for your advise.

Nelli

John Deere’s 1023E and 1025R Subcompact Utility Tractors give the acreage and hobby farm owner the power and performance needed to easily attach and remove implements, work with greater comfort and safety, and mow large volumes of grass with a high quality of cut.
