Selling meat from home or at a market

I am looking for some advice as to where I can get some information on selling Pasture raised pigs & sheep meat. I would only be packing & selling on, the animals would actually be slaughtered at a licensed slaughter house. I am located in South Australia.

Hamilton Sheep Handler

G'day Guys, I have just purchased a second hand Hamilton double sided sheep Handler to assist in the husbandry tasks for our small flock of Dorpers. I know it is a long shot; but, would anyone happen to have a user manual that they could scan and send to me? I have searched high and low for something on the Internet with no luck.

Newbie to hobby farming

Hi There, I have 25 acres in the Port Stephens Area NSW and don't know where to start. I'm a complete novice however was raised on a farm and I'm not afraid of hard work. I will be a weekend warrior and will occasionally enlist some help from friends and family. Block needs light scrub clearing and general tidy up. First question what type of tractor slasher multi purpose attachments etc would be best? Best value for money New or second hand?? Look forward to your advice! Barb :)

Dam help

Hi ,this is my first post so forgive me if my questions sound odd??? I recently put a dam on our property 10 acre hobby farm .and although the people digging the dam were experienced my dam will not hold water.we dug down to hard clay, and put a 4 meter base narrowing to a 2.5meter top.it has been full to the top twice in the last few months.it takes about 3-5days to drain complete.there are dams further along on next doors property. And very (you could water ski on them ) large dams opposite.some of the old stagers around here are saying that it has to fill up 3-4times before it seals ??

Can cows get chest infections?

Hello can anyone give advice. I have a cow that seems to be out of breath alot and sometimes coughs. I have now noticed

that my other cow seems to be doing the same thing. When it first started I thought it was because they were out of breath running up the hill to get their molassess each afterroon but I'm wondering if its something else. We have had alot of rain over the past 10wks... can being wet all the time make them sick?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Good meat chickens

Hi,

My husband and I are the proud new owers of a farm near traralgon in Vic. We have 75 acres , which is stocked with cows and sheep. We are quite keen on developing up to being self sufficent.

We are interested in getting some meat chickens to bread up and kill ourselves. We have just started to do this with our ducks and would love some advice on some good chicken breeds for this.

Killing saplings

Hi Everyone,

I am having a hard time getting rid of saplings. Can anyone recommend poisons to use and or techniques. I have used grazon and it doesnt seem to be doing much to the hardier trees, before I up the dose on it, I wanted to see if there were any other tricks? Also probably a silly question but what kind of dye can I use in it mark the saplings I have already done? Thank you for any advice you can give me :)

Is 10 acres too much to manage?

Hi everyone - we're right at the point of decision regarding leaving the big smoke and moving our family of 6 to the outskirts of the Bendigo region. We're looking at 10 acres with the dream of growing our own veggies, free ranging chooks and running our small business via an outbuilding. The land is flat and cleared with a dam onsite.

If we were to run and animals on the site to keep the grass down (as opposed to slashing) what would be best to start out with on a 10 acre plot considering we have no experience.
