GENERAL FARM QUESTIONS

HI, I have recently purchased 40 acres in Berringa, Victoria and have a few questions: 1. My land is surrounded by privately owned bush blocks with very large trees that fall onto my land knocking over the fencing. Whose responsibility is it in regards to replacing the fences. 2. Am I allowed to cut the trees that overhang onto my land. 3. What animals are easier to farm? I was looking into Boer Goats. 4. In regards to a planning permit how many animals do I need to have to get one? Thank you this forum is wonderful so far. Natalie

Thanks Charlie,

Thanks Charlie,

Yes the information is very useful. In regards to pruning or trimming trees under the native vegetation act is this the same for crown land.

In regards to a planning permit for dwelling do you know how many livestock you would need to on the land to obtain one. Our shire is the Golden Plains Shire.

Thanks again for the very useful information.

Yep, look up LLS local land

Yep, look up LLS local land services, to get you sorted with a PIC as they are quite affordable, (number of animals depends on the animal, so ask to find out)...and also see them for advice on current rules with vegetation, or if you prefer, you can look up your local crown lands contact on the Industry NSW website. Once you know where you stand, local contractors may be able to help you with the hands on stuff.
Have fun.
