Warts on my calf

Hi all...
I'm new to this site.
I have a problem and just wanting to see if anyone has a good outcome for me.
I have a calf, she is 4 months old and I have realised that she has something like warts around her neck area.
Does anyone know a solution for me of what I should do.
Thanks all in advance

Hi,

Welcome to the small farm forum, please see the response from our local vet below.

"Warts are a pain but rarely anything other than unsightly! True warts are the result of a blood born virus and the individuals immune system has to fight them off. Almost all cases will clear up spontaneously in time. To try and speed this up we suggest trying to roughly remove several warts with a pair of forceps or your fingers if large enough. This can introduce some of offending virus into the system and encourage the body to fight them off.
Well worth a try!"

I hope this is of assistance.

Regards,

Charlie

Thanks Charlie for the advise.
Now I just have to have the guts to rip them off.
She has about 10 to 20 around her neck. Would be painful for her and hard for me to do it to her.
I could sell her to the butcher but not sure if the butcher would take her with the warts.
Does the warts affect the meat in any way?

If you are concerned I would leave them. They are only visual and will not impact the quality of the meat. If you go to sell her at the saleyards they may reduce the price you receive.

 Thanks,

charlie
