Donlin Dexter Stud breeds Irelands oldest, naturally small, metre-tall, small-acre mate: The Dexter.

Donlin Dexter Stud keeps the ancient Irish tradition in our friendly closed herd of horned, all three solid colour Dexters displaying both their very unique to the breed: dwarf and non-dwarf characteristics.

The little known yet easy calving, hardy and very friendly Dexter is a fantastic all rounder producing high quality milk, cheese, butter, ice-cream etc for the home and / or filling the family freezer with small cuts of beautifully marbled dark tender meat which is all easily produced on naturally growing Australian cool and warm seasoned native grasses.

We DNA test for: parent verification, A2 milk protein, dwarf and non-dwarfism, and for colour including dun. Our foundation Dexters tested free of PHA ensuring Donlin calves are PHA free by inheritance.

Australian Dexters have been DNA parent verified since the late 1990's producing extended pedigrees of genuine Dexter lines.

Specialising in small Dexter cattle for the hobby and lifestyle farmer. Happy Little Hooves cattle are a good choice as they are well suited to the country lifestyle and small holdings. They do not require a lot of feed and are environmentally friendly.

Their small size makes them great for family pets as well as keeping the grass down. Dexter cattle are very quiet/loving and do not require high fences or yards, you will find most things can be done with a feed bucket and halter.
