Hi and thanks

Hi everyone My husband and I made the move from Brisbame and bought our small farm a year ago. We are only on 5 acres and keep two horses with the intention of also growing our own vegetables one day. Looking forward to reading everyone's posts and asking for your advice Thanks in advance for including me in your forums Cheers Claire

Well I've just purchased 50 acres 1/3 is cleared and fenced and suitable for use the other 2/3 is scrub and will take a while to clear. I'm wondering what kind of stock I should start researching. Also what's the rules reguarding tax as I'd love to start small with a few mini cattle and keep clearing out the back till I have 50 useable acres.

Wiltipol Sheep and Boran Cattle

G'day, everybody. A little about my farming career. The bride and I are farming on a small irrigation farm in Northern Victoria. I also work off farm (like many others) lopping trees. On the farm we run Wiltipol x sheep & small Boran x cattle. In the past our farm was larger but when my father passed on, the farm had to be split up. After the division I purchased some Dorper sheep, thinking that it would be easier than wool sheep. Wrong! Anyhow I have slowly rectified that problem by purchasing some Wiltipol rams and keeping the female offspring for breeders.

How to farm with sheep....

Hello everyone

We have been on our 28 acres on the NSW Central Coast for 2 years now, and have just now fixed the fencing on 2 of our paddocks, which will allow us to keep some livestock. We're wanting to put 5-6 sheep in the paddocks now to see how it goes. The only trouble is, we have no experience with Livestock or farming, and we're unsure what we need to do in order to keep the sheep. We're not looking at using the sheep to make money, it's more for a hobby.

I have been looking for land in North Victoria - Avoca - Region and Colac areas, because land is bit cheap there.

Mainly to grow fruits .  I am looking at 10acre to 50 acre land

1.  How hard job is a weed control in the emplty area.  Do you need to have like a ride on mover.

2.  Digging and Hoe equipment , better to buy or rent ?

3.  Get me up to date with council regulations.

Interested in shared farming ???

Hi,

I reside in Sydney and work full time.  But I have always had the passion to pursue farming.  I am open to anybody or a group like me willing to invest time and money in farming.  We can share our work, learn together, split our gains (though I would'nt bank on that first couple of years !!).  A good attitude is a must.  Expect tough times, but if we stick together, I am sure we can pull it off.  I can contribute during weekends and even weeknights. Anybody interested ?

Thanks

Hi there - farming ideas and answers required

Hi there,

This website looks terrific and the feedback provided by members looks invaluable. We have recently purchased 5 acres in Sedgwick as a place to build our 'forever home'.

So far we have 7 Suffolk Sheep that act as lawn mowers and when the house is built, hopefully next year, would like to get into growing as much of our own produce as possible.

I have so many ideas and questions that i apologise now, i will probably ask some really dumb things. But just want to make sure i get it right.

Thanks for the great site.

Cheers

Dennis

Hi - brand new property owner

.

Hi guys,

Brand new property owner and newbie here.

I have recently (ok, 6 months ago!) bought a 100 acre block just north of Taralga.

Not doing much with it farming wise just yet, I have been concentrating on on-site accomodation and blackberries/bracken fern mostly.

I can't get up there enough! Loving it!
