Hi all,

Novice farmer here. Have around 30 Acres of land available to run sheep (dorper preferably). There a small/medium dam already onsite, with a few tanks holding water around the place.

The plan is to buy 6-10 sheep, and graze them between the 2 paddocks initially, then move into a 3rd paddock and 4th eventually. Buying a lot more livestock eventually as I get used to the work involved.

I have attached a photo looking across paddock one - 1.3 acre. I'm not sure what type of pasture there is, but you may be able to tell me looking at the photo if its suitable.

Water will be supplied via a trough in each paddock, being pressure fed from the tank (blue circle on picture). 

Question - what type of electric fence is suitable? Should I buy a 5J supply energizer (50km coverage) ? Or stick with cheaper lower output units?

They will be solar powered.
