4) Soil sampling and testing by a Farmstyle consultant

Soil testing enables small farmers to understand the health of their soils and to plan fertiliser and soil conditioning (lime, gypsum, dolomite) strategies. If you plan to make a living from the land, the soil is the most valuable asset. Before purchasing farming land, always request soil tests from the current owner, this will provide clarity on any underlying soil health problems together with an insight into the farms nutrient bank.

This affordable soil testing package takes the headache out of collecting, posting and interpreting soil tests. One of our experienced team will visit your farm; upon discussion identify the main soil types and paddocks that need testing. As part of the package you will receive a personalised report with complete interpretations.

What’s included?

  • On farm visit (approximately 1-2 hours), collection of soil samples and posting to accredited soil testing laboratory.
  • 2 x 0-15cm, basic soil tests (two separate paddocks or soil types), reporting on soil pH, texture, carbon, macro and micro nutrients.
  • Personalised interpretation of results and fertiliser recommendations.
