New bale spikes - how tight is enough?

Hullo. New member and new farmer. My ancestors farmed cattle for generations but sold the last farm in 1896 so I inherited a bit of a knowledge gap. I have a new set of bale spikes for a FEL - two spike each 1100mm long with 27mm diameter threads and 40mm (1 5/8 inch) hex nuts. I've got confusingly different advice on the correct torque. The supplier's label said "42kgs using a 1.5m long handle on the spanner", which I think converts to 411Nm. A friend advised 190Nm, which is at the top of the scale for a simple twist-adjust torque wrench. The LandPride website chart for torque values says 525-540Nm for this size nut, which requires a different type of torque wrench that I don't have. I know it has to be tight and firm to avoid snapping the spike at the taper, but can anyone suggest what torque I should aim for? Fencepost.
