How to find a market for produce?

Hi all, I am wondering what is the best way of doing research on the market demand of a particular culinary and medicinal herb I am considering on planting. Are there consultants you can employ to do this type of work or is it best to approach local supermarkets and wholesalers, produce markets and try to find out yourself?    I know there is one large supplier of this herb in Australia but how would I find out if there is demand for more than they supply?

HI Michelle,

without knowing what particular herbs you want to grow it's difficult to say. I guess you probably wish to keep it to yourself, but perhaps you could let us know what you are thinking of growing and then we may be able to offer you more advice. Often there are different growers associations for various products e.g. Lavender, olives, citrus and so on. Perhaps an internet search for the particular things you wish to grow might give you some ideas.

Cheers,

Barb
