Costs of sinking a bore?

Hi,

I know that there are a lot of variables in establishing the cost of sinking a bore however I would appreciate some idea of what it has cost people to put one in.

I'm on the Bellarine Peninsula and have three dry dams now and have had to hookup the paddocks to town water. (Luckily I dont have a lot of stock at the moment). There is a bore about 200 metres from me that has just been put back into action and I am about to get a sample of the water to test. I have the chemistry for one about a kilometre away and it would seem OK.

According to the Vic Government website the bore is about 55 metres in depth.

I am trying to get a rough order of magnitude cost of sinkling a bore about that deep. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Terry

Hi Terry,

I suggest getting a few quotes from different contractors because the cost of putting a bore down varies with terrain- rock, sand, soil etc, travel distance for the contrctor, cost of casing and pump for the bore and so on. Also ask around and see if any one who has had a bore done can recommend a good reliable contractor. Remember, there are some shonky dealers out there. I think it would be an idea to not pay up front and to wait until the job is done before paying the contractor.

It would be good if you can get a bore put down as paying for town water must be very expensive. I gather that you have already checked out liscensing requirements for your bore? As I live in Qld,I have no idea what they are there.

Cheers,

Barb
