PIC numbers

Hi All, my fiancee and I are purchasing a 14acre property in Adelaide Hills at the end of the month. I have done some research prior to moving and understand that you need a PIC number if you want livestock on your property. I have asked the current owner and he advised that the property already has one. Any advice on what to do next in regards to transferring/obtaining a new PIC would be greatly appreciated, as well as what I need to do when we want to obtain some livestock.

Cheers

Shaun

Haven't Started Yet!

Hello!

My husband and I are currently looking to purchase a small parcel of land. We used to own land in Taralga but it was too hilly and rock based for it to be useful.

We currently live semi rural on half an acre, we planted a fruit orchard which is giving us some good fruit for ourselves and to share amongst the neighbours however we are hoping to go to a larger scale.

Aerator for small acrea

Hi Guys

New to Farmstyle but have been on our 40 acre property in the Macleay Valley for 30 years. Thought I could offer suggestions and even learn some as well. We have made some successes and a lot of mistakes on the place so far but absolutly love the life style. We grew up in Sydney moved here had family and could NEVER go back - live like battery chooks down there!! (Let out on the weekend to go to the Shopping Mall)

Hello everybody

Hi there,

I recently purchased a small 30 acre block after selling a 3200 acre property. I have decided to move away from cattle due to obvious reasons and I am jumping on the vegetables wagon.

Hope to get and give if possible good advice.

Regards

Rin

Newbie to hobby farming

Hi There, I have 25 acres in the Port Stephens Area NSW and don't know where to start. I'm a complete novice however was raised on a farm and I'm not afraid of hard work. I will be a weekend warrior and will occasionally enlist some help from friends and family. Block needs light scrub clearing and general tidy up. First question what type of tractor slasher multi purpose attachments etc would be best? Best value for money New or second hand?? Look forward to your advice! Barb :)

Good meat chickens

Hi,

My husband and I are the proud new owers of a farm near traralgon in Vic. We have 75 acres , which is stocked with cows and sheep. We are quite keen on developing up to being self sufficent.

We are interested in getting some meat chickens to bread up and kill ourselves. We have just started to do this with our ducks and would love some advice on some good chicken breeds for this.

Is 10 acres too much to manage?

Is 10 acres too much to manage?

Hi everyone - we're right at the point of decision regarding leaving the big smoke and moving our family of 6 to the outskirts of the Bendigo region. We're looking at 10 acres with the dream of growing our own veggies, free ranging chooks and running our small business via an outbuilding. The land is flat and cleared with a dam onsite.

If we were to run and animals on the site to keep the grass down (as opposed to slashing) what would be best to start out with on a 10 acre plot considering we have no experience.
