Farm update
20-Dec-2012: Cleared around the house site noting the Native Vegetation Act as a guide.
10-Jan-2012: Partially enclosed the 22mx12m old mill shed into a lockup area for our solar batteries and tools. We can't see ourselves using the entire shed to shelter livestock.
14-Feb-2012: Currently estimating the cost of moving an old farmhouse onto the land as opposed to milling the timber and building a home. We have a substantial amount of spotted gum that we would love to use. Placed an ad on Gumtree for a portable sawmiller and was contacted by Chris, from Lismore, who provided great advice. Next step - obtain an estimate from a builder for how much timber we would need to build our house.
23-Feb-2012: Rain, rain, rain, and more rain. The driveway washed away to nearly 4WD access only - fortunately we hadn't done the upgrade yet. Have now met all our neighbours (6) and all seem like a fun bunch. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that we have a weekly event to look forward to. Most weeks we all partake in a Friday dinner at one of the farms - sounds a hoot.
