Just joined and would like some info for South East QLD
I have 100 acres of mainly natural bushland east of Crows Nest Qld, and am looking for a viable venture to make use of at least some of the property. I prefer to grow something rather the have animals. I was thinking of herbs, garlic, wild flowers, can anyone provide any advice. Is there a demand for anything?
thanks

Hi Sue,
I have been away and have just noticed that you haven't had a reply to your question. As you live in Queensland you will be subject to the forestry protection laws. Before you can set up an agricultural project you will need to find out about what forestry zoning your property has. You can get this information from DERM Qld primary industries. Naturally if the property is heavily timbered then it would be difficult to grow anything in the ground without being able to clear some of the area. If you wanted to set up hydroponics and shade houses then you could use solar lighting to overcome the lack of sunlight from a dense overhead canopy. Anyway, please get back to me with a little more detail about the property and I may be able to help you more.
kind regards,
Barb
