Leaving animals unattended

Hi, I just bought a 30 acres property in heathcote and will be using it as a weekend property. It has four damns and has intact fence lines. I want to get a couple of head of cattle and wanted to know the viability of doing this whilst only being at the property once a week? In addition to having this add to my enjoyment of the property, it is a good way to keep the grass down. Interested in people's thoughts on whether this cas be done and any tips to help. t8 Thanks Adrian

Hi Adrian I would reccomend getting some cattle to keep the grass down. Cattle are generally much less maintenance than sheep. That being said I would probably buy steers and trade them every year. So buy them in smaller at say 250 kg and sell them in a year or so when they should be 400 kg plus. This way you are not having to worry about joining cows with a bull or the cows having trouble calving when you aren't there to help. I hope this helps.
